The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Islamic Republic of Iran has strongly condemned the recent military actions carried out by the United States and the Zionist regime, describing them as criminal acts and a blatant violation of Iran’s territorial integrity and national sovereignty. The statement, verified by Iran’s Ambassador to Tanzania, Mohammad Javad, indicates that the attacks occurred at dawn today, on the tenth day of the holy month of Ramadan and on the eve of Nowruz celebrations, targeting both military infrastructure and civilian sites across multiple cities in Iran.
The Ministry emphasized that this renewed aggression came while Iran and the United States were engaged in ongoing diplomatic negotiations, undertaken in good faith to resolve disputes and demonstrate the legitimacy of the Iranian nation while rejecting any pretext for military action. “The Iranian people can hold their heads high, knowing that all efforts were made to prevent war,” the statement read.
It further notes that the airstrikes by the United States and the Zionist regime constitute a clear violation of Article 2(4) of the United Nations Charter and are unmistakable acts of armed aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran. Responding to these attacks is Iran’s lawful and legitimate right under Article 51 of the UN Charter, and the Iranian Armed Forces are fully prepared to use all available capabilities to repel the aggressors and defend national sovereignty.
The Ministry called on the UN Security Council and all UN member states, especially regional and Islamic countries, members of the Non-Aligned Movement, and governments committed to global peace and security, to strongly condemn the aggression and take urgent collective action, stressing that the attacks pose an unprecedented threat to both regional and international stability.
The statement concluded by affirming that the Armed Forces of the Islamic Republic of Iran, guided by historical legacy, divine support, and national strength, will steadfastly defend the homeland. Iran’s history of resilience against foreign aggression continues, and the nation vows that its response will be firm, decisive, and will hold the aggressors accountable.
