Season Seven of “LADIES FIRST” Women's Athletics Championship Concludes Successfully.

The seventh season of the “LADIES FIRST” women’s athletics championship concluded yesterday with great success, showcasing remarkable growth in female athletic talent and continued development of track and field sports in the country.

Speaking during the closing ceremony, the Executive Secretary of National Sports Council (BMT) Ms: Neema Msitha congratulated all participants for their commitment and discipline throughout the competition. He urged parents to continue nurturing their children and encouraged coaches to keep mentoring and training the young athletes to help them realize their international ambitions.

He noted that the championship has continued to witness significant positive changes each day, a clear indication of the collective efforts made by various stakeholders in uplifting women’s athletics.

Expressing her excitement after receiving a gold medal, an athlete from Manyara Region said the competition had inspired and strengthened her determination to train harder in pursuit of her dreams.

“I feel very proud to represent my region and emerge as a winner. This competition has taught me discipline and healthy competition, and it has made me believe that my dream of becoming an international athlete is achievable,” she said.

Meanwhile, a silver medalist from the Urban West Region (Mjini Magharibi) described the competition as tough but fair, adding that LADIES FIRST has become an important platform for young girls.

 “The competition was tough but very motivating. I have learned a lot, and I know that with more effort, I will be a winner in the future,” she said.

A bronze medalist from Kilimanjaro Region also expressed her appreciation to the organizers and coaches for providing them with a platform to showcase their talents.

“We are very grateful for this opportunity. It has made us feel valued and believe that sports can take us even further in life,” she said.

This year’s seventh edition also witnessed strong support from various sponsors, whose contributions played a key role in the success of the championship. Among the main sponsors was Plascon, which was represented at the event by its Head of Marketing, Mr. Hussain Haji. He commended the organizers for putting together a meaningful competition aimed at empowering young girls and reaffirmed the company’s commitment to supporting the development of women’s sports in Tanzania.

At the end of the championship, outstanding athletes were awarded medals including gold, silver, and bronze. In the overall standings, Manyara Region topped the table after collecting eight (8) medals, followed by Urban West Region with six (6) medals, while Kilimanjaro Region secured third place with three (3) medals.

Organizers expressed satisfaction with the success of this season, stressing that LADIES FIRST continues to serve as a vital platform for identifying and nurturing young female talent in athletics, and promising a bigger and better season in the future.
