Dar es Salaam — The Ministry of Home Affairs, through its Minister, Hon. Boniface Simba Chawene, has stated that the alleged protests planned to take place tomorrow, December 9, are not ordinary demonstrations but rather an attempt at a revolution, emphasizing that they are illegal and have not been granted any authorization by the relevant authorities.

Speaking today during a press conference held at the Ministry of Home Affairs offices, Chawene said that no legal notification, as required by law prior to the organization of any demonstration in the country, has been submitted.

“All meetings and demonstrations must comply with the laws of the land. No permit has been issued; therefore, any event that takes place tomorrow will not be a lawful protest but an act that goes against the law and national security,” said Chawene.

Furthermore, the minister urged citizens not to involve themselves in any acts of violence or unlawful gatherings, encouraging them to continue with their daily activities in peace and calm.

“We urge citizens to remain safe and avoid engaging in any actions that may disrupt peace. Security and defense forces are fully prepared to ensure the safety of people and their property,” he added.

Chawene’s statement comes at a time when various reports have been circulating on social media alleging the existence of indefinite protests starting tomorrow, December 9, 2025, in some parts of the country, causing concern among some members of the public.

The Ministry of Home Affairs has stressed that strict legal action will be taken against any individual or group found to be involved in planning or participating in activities that could disrupt public peace, reiterating its commitment to safeguarding peace, stability, and national unity.
